Mission Statement:

“Remembering Christ’s call to minister to those in need, this committee shall dedicate itself to the caring of our brothers and sisters, by providing the congregation with opportunities to serve locally, nationally and internationally as loving and faithful Christians.”

2016 Goals:

  • to address hunger both near and far;
  • to support those in crisis situations;
  • to maintain social outreach in the community.

A variety of activities take place throughout the year to meet these goals. The committee works to engage congregation members in its work and to participate with other local organizations working to meet community needs.

Several examples of our activities include:

  • planning and overseeing the Mission of the Month,
  • LISTEN Community Services Holiday Gift Baskets,
  • the Ingathering,
  • Community Dinners at the Enfield Methodist Church,
  • the Enfield Food Pantry,
  • Spring Day of Community Service,
  • Lutheran World Relief School Kits and Backpacks,
  • God’s Work -Our Hands Sunday, and
  • involvement with the United Valley Interfaith Project (UVIP). 

We take guidance from the ELCA social statement: "The Church in Society: A Lutheran Perspective” which tells us:

“Along with all citizens, Christians have the responsibility to defend human rights, and to work for freedom, justice, peace, environmental well-being, and good order in public life.”  

Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month and are open to any congregation members wishing to participate.  Your interest and involvement is welcomed. Come join us!
